The Dunes of Maspalomas
This is by far the best known photo shoot location on the island. The dunes are located at the southern peak of the island stretching 6km along the Atlantic shore.
You should plan at least one hour for crossing the dunes to get to the beautiful sandy beach. Although it is only a distance of 2 kilometres separating Maspalomas from the Atlantic, you should take with you enough water on this walk.
The dunes got formed by the sand of the Sahara and each Calima (very hot, dusty storm coming from the african continent) is bringing some more sand. This wind does the shaping of these beautiful dunes.
One of the best photo shoot locations
As it is very impressive to see the Dunas Maspalomas with your own eyes and walking through them you will agree that they are one of the premium photo shoot locations of Gran Canaria.
A photo shoot in the dunes is recommended at dusk and at dawn, when the dune formations are most impressive in the dusky light.

You can alsa walk to the dunes through the big gate of the Riu Hotel in Playa del Inglés. This way takes you directly in the middle of the dunes area where you can take beutiful and fantastic pictures.
